What does one do when 4 of the 5 kids are in the phase of "just feeling better," after being very ill for a week, yet they're still not completely better? They have bursts of energy then fatigue. It snowed today. But snow ice cream was out. The sleet that's covering the snow would make it too crunchy. Anyway, we made the old stand-by pine cone bird feeders. Smother a pine cone in peanut butter (all we had was crunchy, I don't think the birds will choke...hhhmmm???), the girls cut up apples into little pieces and rolled the pine cones in them along with birdseed. They used ribbon to hang them on the trees and various hooks outside. I sure wish I could get a photo of the many birds on the pine cone outside our window. It almost seems like all the birds called all their friends and family--"Hey everyone, family reunion on the Best Nest Farm, meet at the p
eanut buttered pine cones!"
