Field trip! Off to Fuquay-Varina, South Main Street to the quaint little bread and pastry shop that I've been hearing so much about. I have 4 final words: scrumptious atmosphere and food!
As I walked in I was struck by the downtown, old-fashioned, slightly Italian feel of the place. People were casually sitting and talking, different walks of life, all enjoying- I would promise- the delectable array of deserts, breads and coffees. The choice was more than difficult, but I settled in on a sticky bun with walnuts and raisins. It called out my name, even more so than the others. I got an iced tea and a treat for 3 of my kids, and some take home goodies as well. I was caught off guard by how cheap it all was, secretly thinking that they could charge even more!
As we sat down by a cozy table in the window I noticed the even flow of customers, they seemed to have a repertoire with the staff, looking as if they might have been here many times before. I know I will be back, and with friends and more family to boot. Let me tell you, my sticky bun was not only sticky with a glaze of walnuts and many raisins, but it was moist and yummy. I gobbled that down and considered going back for another. I didn't, but I must admit, I got a bacon and cheddar scone for later!
We also smuggled home an Irish soda bread with raisins, yumsters. I will go back. I will need to walk instead of drive, somehow I've got to get that sticky bun off my thighs. I will also tell my friends about this quaint, inexpensive, fun, fabulous place to go. It is now on my favorite list!

I agree Joanna. I love the breads, and especially the cookies. I like one of the cranberry ones. Not sure what it is called, but I could eat three of them. Didn't though, just like you. Great review and very true!!
